Daydream Ration

Daydream Ration is the third song to be released from Schwervon!’s Memphis sessions with Doug Easley (Pavement, Sonic Youth, Cat Power). Matt says his original inspiration for the duo taking the trip down south was listening to old Grifters albums, and specifically reading a very conspicuous advertisement for Easley-McCain Studios on the inside fold of the Grifters’ first Sub Pop Release “Ain’t My Lookout”. Everything came full circle when Dave Shouse (Grifters, Those Bastard Souls, The New Mary Jane) agreed to appear as a guest vocalist for this track.

We are going to digitally stream a new track every other Friday for the months of January, February and March of 2012. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, each new song will be offered as a free download for the first week of it’s release.

American Idle

American Idle is the second song to be released from Schwervon!’s Memphis sessions with Doug Easley (Pavement, Sonic Youth, Cat Power). The song was originally called American Idol. While in the studio, Easley half-jokingly suggested changing the spelling from “Idol” to “Idle” to avoid any future copyright infringements from the popular TV Show. Legal issues aside, Nan and Matt liked the alternate spelling better anyway.

Truth Teller

Last summer, Schwervon! took a break from the hustle and bustle of their home headquarters in New York City and headed south to the land of Elvis and Stax Records (Memphis, TN). Their mission was to record with legendary indie rock engineer Doug Easley (Pavement, Sonic Youth, Cat Power). Truth Teller is an early taste of Schwervon!’s summer session with Easley.

Additional chorus vocals are by Frances McKee, of legendary Glaswegian band The Vaselines. Schwervon! befriended McKee after opening for The Vaselines on their European tour in 2011.

New Year. New Site. New Songs.

Happy New Year and welcome to the new Schwervon! website. Lots of new stuff going on here. Nan and I took a trip down south this summer to play some shows and record for a few days in Memphis, Tennessee with legendary sound engineer Doug Easley (Pavement, Cat Power, Sonic Youth, Grifters). After a quick stop off at Graceland we brought the tracks back to the Olive Juice Music lab to sprinkle it with our own special NYC fairy dust.

We figured now is as good a time as any to unleash our sonic babies on the world. As I write we are preparing the tracks for mastering. So, stay tuned. We are going to digitally stream a new track every other Friday for the months of January, February and March of 2012, starting on lucky Friday the 13th! As if that wasn’t exciting enough, each new song will be offered as a free download for the first week of it’s release. Here’s to a good year!
love,
MMM (& Nan)
